Q&A: Can I incorporate “PUPPY PADS” with the puppy that I have already begun to train outside?
Question by Melissa P: Can I incorporate “PUPPY PADS” with the puppy that I have already begun to train outside?
My puppy has already begun potty training and she is doing ok, going out right away in the mornings, and multiple times throughout the day, and always before bed. Sometimes she will not go when we are outside at all, when we are out there. There are times when she has accidents in the house RIGHT after we come inside from playing for an hour or so. We bought the Arm & Hammer puppy pads for her to start using because we don’t want her to ruin the carpet in our new apartment obviously… She is only 12 weeks old and we want to incorporate the puppy pads with the training that we have already instituted, but will that negate the previous training that we have already worked so hard on getting her to do?

From what I understand, you are to move puppy pads closer and closer to the door and then eventually outside so the puppy puts 2 and 2 together.
Crate training is the best and easiest way to housebreak a dog though.

My dog hated puppy pads…never peed on them only ate them
Are you not able to take the pup out doors?? A Shepherd is a big breed for a pee pad…unless you are going to transition to outdoor training once the pup’s grown.

Will a cat use puppy pads?
Question by Identity Crisis: Will a cat use puppy pads?
Well I don’t know what to do about my cat. I’ve had her for a while but i’m not sure how old she is because she was wild when I got her. I’m sure she’s at least 9. She recently started urinating all over my bedroom and I only let her in at night while I sleep because I thought that she wouldn’t do it if I were in the room.
But now she pees on stuff while i’m asleep! I can’t have a litter box because I have no place for it to go and they are so gross! But i’m wondering if she would use those pads you buy for puppies before they’re house trained? I don’t know what else to do with her. Any suggestions?
The only place my DAD will let me keep the litter box is my room and yes, I have nowhere for it to go!
And i’m not getting rid of this cat that I have had since I was 6 (i’m 14 now)
Don’t be an a** hole just help! And if you can’t help then don’t answer the Fkng question!!!

1.The little box is not gross if you clean it !!!!!
2.If she is peeing out of her box, it could be she has a Urinary Infection !!!
By the way, when you say you do not have a little box, you mean no litter box in your room or in the entire house ???
Cats needs little box as humans needs toilets (period).

Can I still bell train my puppy if she uses pee pads during the day?
Question by I love Daisey: Can I still bell train my puppy if she uses pee pads during the day?
I have a four month old puppy who I’ve been persistently training for the last week since we got her. When I’m at work, I set a pee pad out for her (which she seldom has used), but when I’m home she goes outside to pee. I take her out often and she has not had an accident in our home since the first day we got her, but I don’t know if she actually knows that peeing outside is good. Can I still train her to ring a bell to go out, or would that confuse her? Thanks for your help.

The first thing i will say is to get a dog flap if possible this will sort all problems point blank. and i would recommend you do not use the dog pads for the simple reason that the dog may mistake a towel or a white jumper for a pad. but everything else you are doing really well.

How do I get a yorkie to stop going on puppy pads and go “potty” outside?
Question by : How do I get a yorkie to stop going on puppy pads and go “potty” outside?
I have a house with no back yard. When the yorkie was originally trained, he was trained on puppy pads since he was in an apartment. Now we have moved him to a house and have tried to get him off of the pads. We have tried to remove the pads and crate train him. He stays in the crate when we are at work and at night. The problem is that he is out of the crate he will go on the bath mats that we have down thinking that they are puppy pads. We take him out in the morning, as soon as we get home from work, and at night before we go to bed. When he is out on the walk, we make sure that he has done both 1 and 2. He is 4 years old. Suggestions?

Give lots of praise when it goes potty outside. Take it out more often. Might have to keep puppy pads a little bit longer.

Where can I buy Arm & Hammer Pee Pads in Canada?
Question by : Where can I buy Arm & Hammer Pee Pads in Canada?
I have two little dogs (4.5lb) that are pee pad trained and it works well for us except that the pee pads smell like urine quite quickly (less than a day). I have done some research and found that many people love the Arm & Hammer Pee Pads because of the built in odor control. Does anyone know where I can buy them in Canada?
Please only answer if you have input about the Arm & Hammer brand specifically (or another that you have found works well) No useless answers please, going outside is not an option in -40 degrees.
Thanks Inky. I ended up calling a whole bunch of places. We don’t have petco but have petland and petsmart…neither of which carry them. Turns out you were right with Walmart:)

You can find products like that at any pet store. I’m pretty sure that Canada has a Petco or Walmart

You don’t unless you want the dog to continue peeing in the house anywhere she chooses. Dogs should be taken outside on a leash to pee/poop every 2-3 hours if they are small dogs. So start taking the dog out on a regular schedule and crating her when you cannot supervise.

potty training a Beaglier puppy -> stops using pads, wont go outside.?
Question by ViXEN: potty training a Beaglier puppy -> stops using pads, wont go outside.?
I am trying to potty train my 12 week old Beaglier. We have had him for 1 week exactly. We started crate training, but that wasn’t going to work, because there is a 5 hour block in the day where no one is home. A lady gave us some unused potty pads, and we decided to give it a try. We confine & block him off on the wood floor in the kitchen with his water, food, toys, kennel, and of course the pad. I’ve researched all the tips and techniques to potty training, such as looking for signs and taking him out every hour or so. On the second day he started using the wee wee pads often, maybe 1 accident in the day, possibly excitement urination. He never pooped on them, or outside, but on the floor once a day. We live in an apartment complex, and there are grass spots and a dirt lot where he can go potty. He never did. One day we took him around the block outside of the complex, and he pooped outside on the sidewalk! We were so happy. He didn’t pee, but that was okay. We continued this for 2 or 3 days, always pooping in the same spot. But now he isn’t using his wee wee pad to pee, and he isn’t peeing outside either. Yesterday we were taking him for the walk, and he didn’t poop. So we took him out probably 6 more times, and he didn’t go. He ended up pooping on the floor in the middle of the night. I don’t know what we’re doing wrong, seeing how we take him out often, praise him, don’t OVER scold him, and change the pads out after 2-3 pees. Agh, so frustrating. Please help.
Also, not sure if it matters, but we got him at 11 weeks from a breeder. I think she just let them eliminate on the floor wherever and whenever, and cleaned it up, as her whole house was hardwood, and we saw dogs “going” all over, and her just cleaning it up. Sure doesn’t help :/

Crate training, and then outside. Both must go hand in hand.
