Why does my 12 week old puppy pee when sleeping and in his bed?
Question by gary: Why does my 12 week old puppy pee when sleeping and in his bed?
My puppy pees in his sleep. He could be asleep on your knee and only realise he is doing it in when he feels wet. He also pees on his bed. He does not pee when I take him out for a walk but waits until he is back in the garden or house. I have never shouted at him or hit him for peeing and I have followed all of the tips for house breaking available.

he may have a bladder infection or he might not have control of those muscles yet. I recommend taking him to the vet.
Give your answer to this question below!

some puppies take a little longer than others to catch onto the house training, Keep up your training method and he will get it after a while, Also it might be no harm to take him to the vets just to make sure he hasn’t picked up an infection.
We just got a new dog too, and he has the same problem, however, he pees when he gets excited.Since the puppy is so young, he wont be able to control his bladder, so he will constantly pee. If you haven’t already, another reason for his bladder problem might be that you haven’t fixed him yet. Other than that, you are doing a great job in disciplining him, so keep up the good work!
I think you should perhaps get this checked by your vet as leaking like this isn’t right. There is such a thing as submissive peeing, but if he’s asleep, this doesn’t sound like that. If you can, collect a sample of his pee to take in with you to be tested. Hopefully this is just a mild infection that can be sorted out.
As a puppy my dog did basically the same thing. Every time my daughter came through the front door she would pee. The dog not my daughter (ha! ha!). Would also do it once in awhile while laying in her bed. At that age they don’t have full control of the muscle, kinda like a young child that has accidents.
It will go away as he gets older.
Good luck.
