i dont think it matters when you feed them twice a day. i’d just make sure you give them the same amount of food total.

I feed my 6 month old 2 square meals of softened kibble a day, at 9.00PM and 6.00pm as then he knows when dinner is!
Always move the food when he’s stopped eating and cover with foil or something, then’ll he’ll know he can’t keep snacking and will ask for it.
Also that means he will eat it all up then snooze.
Remeber wait at least 20 mins after hes eaten before a walk so he doesn’t get bloated!
Of course he gets treats in the day for good behavior etc so he never goes hungry!
You need to find a good brand puppy food and read the label for how much to give him, according to his weight. Maybe he’s not hungry because he’s getting too much food. There’s nothing wrong with feeding him 3 times a day forever, as long as you divide the food up, so he’s not eating too much. It’s actually better for a dog to eat several times a day, just like us humans.
I would just give him two meals a day since he is six months old now. He is also cutting back on his food himself, which could be his way of telling you that he doesn’t need as much anymore. This would also depend on what kind of dog you have and how big he will get. I’d check out his breed and see how much food is suggested for that breed. If he is a mixed breed, then try weighing him and then check the recommended amount of food the directions on the bag says to give him. You could always check the directions on a bag of dog food at the store if you don’t have the directions there.
