Tips on puppy training! (Boston Terrier)?
Question by Lovin’ Life As Mama & Wife: Tips on puppy training! (Boston Terrier)?
My husband and I just brought home an 8-week old Boston Terrier. We currently have a very mothering and loving 8-year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier and a gentle 5 year old boy (of the human kind!). Soo,..we are not strangers to having a baby in the house, BUT…it’s been awhile!
Our Boston girl is spunky, but wants to be held and cuddled a lot. She is doing her business outside, but has had accidents inside. I know that is to be expected. She is a great night sleeper, but it does take time for her to settle in.
Any tips on potty training and just general tips for a Boston Terrier?

Feed her at certain set times, so you have a general idea of when she’ll need to go, and take her outside more often to help avoid those indoor accidents.
you have to set boundaries for her and let her know who is the alphas in your family. this doesn’t mean you can’t love her, just don’t spoil her. starting her out with good habits is an absolute must!
tips on potty training…
feeding her regular meals and controlling her water intake will help you get a grip on when she’ll pee or poo. take her out after she’s drank any water or eaten any food. as she gets older and her bladder control improves, you’ll be able to take her out less frequently.
good luck with the new pup!
When she does potty/poo in the house YOU HAVE TO CATCH HER IN THE ACT!! just say a firm NO and put her outside…NEVER yell at her after she is done doing it in the house because she wont learn from it and she will just think you are yelling and being mean to her and you wont feel any better! When she does her duty outside praise her give her treats.. Hope I helped!

Good luck with your new “baby”.
Yeah, let the older dog teach the pup, you just have to open the door at the right times…………
Feed her on a regular schedule…
Only leave her food out for her for 20 minutes so that you know exactly when and how much she is eating. An 8 week old puppy needs to be let out ever 45-2 hours.
She also needs to be taken out after every meal, every time she plays and whenever she gets up from sleeping. I know that you will be in and out all day and night with a schedule like this…but with consistency and good timing you can have her house trained in 2 weeks. Good luck!
I have 5 Boston Terriers and one is a puppy. They should go out after they eat, after a nap, and after they play. They are really smart dog’s and learn fast. When she has an accident in the house tell her no in a firm voice and take her outside. When she does go potty outside give her praise or whenever she does good at anything give her praise. They do like to be loved and cuddled. Especially when they are puppies. They are used to being with their siblings so its completely normal. You just have to be firm and insistent with the training. The chewing on everything stage should be starting soon get her chew toys. They tend to get gas because when they eat because of they take in air due to the shape of their face. They also snort some because of of their little nose. It’s called a reverse sneeze, that is their way of cleaning out their nose. Some have a stage where they pee everywhere when they get excited [ mostly when they see people ] they will grow out of it. Hope this helped and good luck with your new puppy.
