Question by vickyandshep: re: 1 yr old collie vaccination and trainig help?
thanks for all the answers,… I have a 3 year ols and a 18 month old, and Shep has been brilliant with them though i’ve onl;y had him for 4 days. Previously he has been kept in a smaal flat with older people, although not neglected, he obviously needed more exersise and attention ect. of course my main concern is my children (as they can pull hair and be irritating to a dog)
My main question is this type of breed likely to change during the next few weeks while he settles in (although you would think he’d always been here!) as he is VERY tollerant though sometimes shy.
obviously I have to think of my children, and not knowing the full background of Shep i don’t want any surprises!, I don’t meen to sound negative as he has been fantastic and I love him to bits.
thank in advance

If you’re talking about a border collie, yes. He will change a bit. I had a border collie as from puppy and had to give her away to someone who doesn’t give a lot of attention. Later i got her back and she seemed very intimidated and shy. She was the sweetest and before she was real wild. Later on as she settled in, she got more active and just like normal border collies are. Just keep an eye on him when he’s with your kids.
What do you think? Answer below!

If your talking bout rough collies we had them when we were younger and they were fantastic very protective over us young ones though,
now im married have a 3year old & a 11 month old boys i have a 3 year old border collie and shes getting there, she would rather ignore the kids but i can see her at the corner of my eye taking her ball to them and sitting, waiting for it to be thrown,
But its the same with any dog you have to be careful with kids about, any dog can turn,
so good luck i better go and make sure the kids and dogs okay!!lol
