go to petstylist.com. there are some ISCC approved schools listed on there. i teach a course in st louis, and we are currently working to qualify to be an ISCC accredited school. ISCC will give you a very good education on many aspects of grooming. you can come out of there with a lot of knowledge and skill that will help you land a good job
The clipper vac is like a Flo-Be for dogs. it’s not really practical, and will not teach you the scissoring skills you need to be a Professional Groomer. It may be the closest school to you, but not the best for me to reccomend. i’ve taught many many students at the basic skill level. the clipper vac only confuses you on what you really nned to learn at a basic level. later, if you want to learn advanced clipper techniques? then that’s fine, but you can really screw up a dog with one of these if you don’t know what you are doing.

I know of one that has a pretty good reputation. The Pennsylvania Academy Of Pet Grooming in Indiana, PA. It is run by the ClipperVac people. Their website is http://clippervac.com/school/index.htm
You can try looking at petgroomer.com for other suggestions if that doesn’t help.
The school in Indianna, PA has a very full curriculim taught by Certified Master Groomers and will teach you more than just the clipper-vac techniques. If you learn how to use all the tools available to you correctly the first time, you will do very well. I learned on one from the beginning as an apprentice to a Master Groomer and never got confused.
As to the clipper-vac issue. Although it is a debated point in the grooming world, it can be a wonderful tool to a skilled groomer when used correctly. It can really help to get a smooth clean clip on difficult areas like pads, sanitary, and to shave poodle faces and feet. It is not necessarily a “flo-be” to be used on the whole dog. I happen to do a fair amount of more traditional hand scissoring, clippering and hand stripping but use the clipper-vac when called for. It was ungainly at first, but once I got used to it it was wonderful. Of course, there are a lot of fly by night, untrained “groomers” out there who will perhaps use it incorrectly and give it a bad name but that doesn’t mean it is a bad tool. Most of the arguments I have heard against it were that it was awkward to get used to and too much of a hassle.
