I am looking into being a dog behaviorist and currently shadow someone who does. I think the key thing is really that you can work with them. Most dog issues are things you need to change in yourself. You have to be able to trust this person and let go of your old ways. The person I shadow is also a vet tech and is trained to prescribe herbal treatments which is very useful for the extreme cases that she normally deals with. I would suggest looking for someone like that. Ask your vet for a reference.
