Q&A: Tips for training a puppy with separation anxiety?
Question by Hannah: Tips for training a puppy with separation anxiety?
I recently got a puppy (15 weeks old), and he has terrible separation anxiety. Even if I leave the room to go to the bathroom, if I go out of sight, he’ll start whining and barking. Crate training is especially hard with him. Do you have any tips from experience or that you heard?

ceaser from the dog whisperer said the best way to train a dog,is to be the pack leader
Get a second dog, or take the dog to the bathroom with you. For me, what worked was holding my dog every moment I had a chance made my dog/s appreciative of alone time. Still loved me, but had room to grow, if you know what I mean.
that is not separation anxiety, that is a puppy … walk the pup more, play with the pup more, take the pup to new places and do new and interesting things daily … get into puppy kindergarten … the pup is just bored and has too much energy and may be a little needy if you just got him (up to 12 weeks are prime socializing time for puppies and if you got him at 15 weeks that was missed so you may have a bit more work on your hands) … do not encourage any needy behaviour from this dog … speak minimally and use simple commands … and with the crate get the dog used to the crate slowly by throwing treats in and let him go in, get them and come out on his own … work up so you have him laying in the crate … then close the door and push treats through the bars and then let him out … and when you are ready to leave him in there, start with short periods of time … when you let him out of the crate, ignore completely until dog is calm … any time you come and go, ignore the dog if he is anxious or too rambunctious until he is calm … you have to be the one to initiate contact with the dog and not the dog coming to you for attention …
