Question by pwagner22: My puppy had been doing really well with housebreaking, until yesterday. What happened? It had been over a week since she had an accident in the house, then between yesterday and today she has gone 5 times in the house, one of them while she was sitting on my son. We fenced off an area of our yard for her to use about 5 days ago. Could this have something to do with it?

Answer by Tina S She might have an infection, or you are not letting her out enough, take her to the vet they’ll know what to do.

it took sometime for my dog to become fully trained also. Be sure that wheneverr you see the dog using the bathroom in the house you dont even let it finish you take it outside. I know most people do, but ive known a few thatll sit there untill the pup is done and then rub its face in it and say bad. Make sure you take the dog outside and when you and the dog come back inside show the spot where he/she went and say bad! and a little tap on the nose. And also try giving it treats when it goes outside. treats help everything with dogs, lol.
I’ve read/heard that puppy takes a long time to house train. It can take a year to two years for them to be fully train. Just because they haven’t been going in the house doesn’t mean they are house train..you still have to watch the puppy. Since the puppy slipped and went in the house again I was told then you have to restart him again like you did at the very beginning. They said that when the dog has ONE accident you should start again in case..one accident can lead to several.
Put her back in a routine and most of all be pateint with her. If you are not and punish her that will cause her to fear you and have more accidents. One of a dogs greatest pleasures is to please thier owner. Please be patient sometimes they will have set backs.
my dog had the same thing but its normal the dog thinks that it is not to leave the house.Make sure you walk the dog 3-5 times and if you see her doing something bad in the home, dont let her do it.It might seem mean but tell her NO BAD DOG! she will be done but make sure you wont be to mean or to nice.Also get her a doggie door, that will help her get to go outside when she needs too.

You have to back to square one. Dog’s internal systems are predictable, so be predicatble. Take her out every time she eats, drinks, or has an accident. Make sure to take up her water at least 2 hours before she goes to bed. Be sure she sleeps in a crate.
There have been some changes, the dog lost ground, but keep on keeping on with the proper training techinques – you will have a happy ending.
