Q&A: My 18 weeks old black lab puppy is so stubborn when it comes to potty training?
Question by rebelxcpl: My 18 weeks old black lab puppy is so stubborn when it comes to potty training?
I’ll take her out on leash she potties, I let her outside in the fenced back yard to play for a while, then I’ll bring her back into house, She potties on floor. She’ll go to the door when she wants to go out. I take her out after she eats, plays, drinks etc that still doesn’t work. I’m frustrated, any suggestions?

Leave her out until she goes outside, however long that takes. Repeat saying “go potty,” while outside with her. Once she goes, praise her like crazy. She’ll get the idea that that’s the place to go.

Labs are highly intelligent dogs. It will take a lot of consistency, but she will catch on. Take her out about 10 minutes after eating/drinking. And, stay out until she goes. Praise her as soon as she goes. You may even want to give her a small treat every time she goes outside. I know it’s frustrating. But, she will catch on. Just like with children, some catch on quicker than others. Just keep trying.
