It will be in your primary week that you get there. Its called the P-days where you just wear a navy sweat suit the whole week, they can’t make you do physical exercise until you check out medically. So you basically do alot of running around getting paper work and different things done and learning some basics. Real boot camp doesn’t start out until the week after. Get use to people calling you RECRUIT all the time.
you will get them at basic but please don’t be the dork that goes wearing them outside of your clothes after you get out of basic training. it is not fashion attire. besides old and new war vets had to rip them from the necks of fallen comrades. don’t remind them of hard times.
It takes a few days to get them. I went to great lakes in July of 1997. It is a little confusing when you just arrive but you will get used to it in a week or so. They keep you so busy that you have no time to think of anything else. Get use to a very short hair cut and a lot of yelling. The slogan of boot camp is “Hurry up and Wait”. Oh yea before I forget get used to a hell of a lot of paper work. Good luck.
