Q&A: How can i make my 1 year old dog stop barking?
Question by sweetiee_<333: How can i make my 1 year old dog stop barking?
My dog is 1 year old but she always barks whenever a person walks by in front of our house. And whenever someone visits our house, she starts barking at them. She is a maltese, so she can bark pretty loud. I want her to stop barking and be friendly to our visitors. Can I train her without spending too much money?

PetSmart and PetCo offer pretty good training classes that are only about $ 99 for 8 sessions. The best part about it access to the trainer to ask all of your questions. One bit of advice that I heard from our trainer about excessive barking was to ignore the dog when they did it. It is attention getting behavior and when you pay attention to her, even in a negative way, she is rewarded. The training classes are also good for socialization with other dogs and people. Good luck!

Show her a picture of Michael Vick
Try verbally admonishing her when she barks and praise her greatly when she does not. But be sure to show in your tone your unhappiness when she does bark. This may work for you, as it has worked well for me and my dog. Best part…..the cost is nothing but time.
The dog feels that the home needs to be protected. You have to show her it’s not her job to worry about that.
You should be the alpha and this should be your business.
Dog simply has this wrong.
P.S. Although this is a long known fact, try watching Cesar Milan or get one of his quite good books.
You can’t. Get her a barking collar about 80 bucks ar Petco, guaranteed to work or your money back. My Golden needed it for about 10 days only at night when she had her bark-a-thons.
It did not hurt her, I made sure of that,
shock collar
get her a bark collar(my dog has one and it really works), and correct her everytime she barks.
