Q&A: Does anyone know where you can take an aggressive dog around PA or MD?
Question by ilmj518: Does anyone know where you can take an aggressive dog around PA or MD?
I have a pitbull boxer who is pretty aggressive he loves my husband and I and the people he grew up around. Now we have a baby on the way and just can’t deal with an aggressive dog anymore. He can be so loveable and I just do not want to put him to sleep. Does anyone know if there are places you can take aggressive dogs and train them?? PLEASE HELP!!!

You can talk to a behaviorist and try to work on his aggression issues, but there’s no where that you can just “drop him off” and have him return a perfect citizen. If you don’t have the time to consistently work with him, then it’s probably best to have him put down. It wouldn’t be fair to give him to someone else if you know he has issues, and then have him bite someone. His behavior is ultimately your responsibility.

get a dog trainer, search the internet for a local one.
you have 2 options. talk to your vet or a qualified animal behaviorist (google) or you can take the dog to the shelter where it will be euthanized.
why wasnt this issue addressed a long time ago?
well…..you could but on a ad online or in your town…but not many people respect aggressive dogs, if you don’t want to get rid of him have him be trained by a specialist. is he fixed? if he’s not you might want to consider fixing him. you might have to go online to find a good trainer though….
Good luck!
and try not to put your dog to sleep, if he is as sweet as you say
Try to find a dog behaviorist to help you with your dog, or take him to a rescue if you don’t want to try training. This is a website where you can search for a dog trainer…………..

You have three options.
Find an experienced professional dog trainer to assess your dog & advise you on your best course of action.
Contact Boxer or Pit Bull breed rescue to see if they would be willing to take a cross bred, assess it & see if it’s a suitable dog for rehoming.
Humanely euthanize the dog, if the canine aggression cannot be cured or managed.
Good luck with your dog.
