I live in an apartment complex and I was walking home from the store with my 5 month old service puppy in training. She was wearing her service jacket and patches and we stopped for her to relieve herself before going back to the apartment.
One of the neighbors came out of his apartment with two of his dogs (one on leash, one off leash), and the one off leash came after my dog aggressively. I raised my voice and said, “Call your dog! Call your dog!” Instead of grabbing his dog and going back inside, he proceeded to call me horrible names and chew me out. We ended up in a name-calling match because I was reminding him that there were LEASH LAWS and he was violating them. My dog was on a loose leash for potty purposes and had wrapped herself around me in fear trying to get away from his dog or I would have left sooner.
I went to management today to complain, but the head manager isn’t there and won’t be for another two weeks. I don’t want this swept under the rug because this guy is a bully. I can see this guy intimidating me every time I walk my dog now. I have limited mobility and can’t take my dog on too many varying routes. I need to know the specific leash laws for my area, but when I tried to Google them, all I get are hits for lawyers on dog bites. I need the website showing the exact ordinance or one pertaining to service dogs or service dogs in training.

Contact the animal control officer in your area. They will be able to tell you all about the laws. And you can file a complaint about his dog at that point in time as well.
