My 14 wks old rottweiler puppy is really aggressive?
Question by Raquel: My 14 wks old rottweiler puppy is really aggressive?
My puppy is 14 weeks and at times she becomes really aggresive. She constantly bites me and she seems to attack me whenever i try to reprimand her. She gets along well with my sisters and my mother but i’m the one who takes care of her the most and she just attacks. I get reallly frustrated and overwhelmed when she starts biting my ankles and hands. I dont know what to do and shes going to start training classes soon, but i’m afraid she will grow into a big biting machine. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME TIPS

Send her to me.
Seriously though, go to www.rottweilersonline.com and join the forum there. You will find tons of training advice for Rottweiler owners. The people there are very friendly and love to see pictures of other Rotties. There is a whole list of training advice there and one addresses puppy biting. You will get a lot better advice there than you would here.

She will improve when she starts her training classes.
bitter apple and strong discipline!
go to your local pet store and buy some spray called bitter apple n put it on your hands… dogs hate it! she will stop the biting and you are going to have to teach her to stop biting! That could become dangerous as she grows bigger and stronger. Did you know the Rottie has the hardest bite of ALL breeds? even harder then a bully breed.
This is all play behavior. Either turn your back and walk away when she does it or give her a toy to bite and reward her for playing with it.She needs lots of exercise too can she fetch or does she run after toys you throw? If so do that for an hour several times each day and she will be too tired to bite you. Combine all these techniques and she will grow up smarter and understand you better.
You don’t say how old you are but your mum needs to be involved with this. You don’t sound as if you are very old, and the rottie has a strong personality and should be left to experienced dog owners and mature people to handle.
My first rottie was a birthday present for my 16 yr old son, but I was the one responsible for the dog and over saw all the training.
She is not being really aggressive by the way — she is actually trying to get you to play, but she has to learn that humans don’t play like dogs.
I agree with joining the forum mentioned. It is the one I have also recommended a few times.
Sorry Julia A to dispute with you on this, but if you throw a toy around for an hour several times a day then all this little puppy will get is severe joint problems or pano or OCD. I can see a dog that comes into rescue that has been overexercised when young by its topline and stifle joint. It damages the cruciates and the spine apart from the other things mentioned.
5 mins per day per month of life is a good rule for walking then some free running but not forced by having to run after toys.
you should have done your research before getting her. rotties need an experienced owner/a very knowledgeable owner.
rottweilers need a firm leader; you must show her you are top dog, not her.
rottweilers NEED a leader, so show her you’re her leader; this is how:
rotties are very tone sensitive, and you must correct all bad behavior with your tone. you can’t let her get away with anything, every little thing must be corrected. when she starts biting/nipping at you or when she does anything bad, raise your voice and use a deep, angry tone. you must be firm, and once you start using your tone, she will learn quickly that you are the leader. but on the other hand, when she is being good and you’re cuddling with her, you need to use a very gentle, soft, sweet tone to show her you are happy with her.
rotties depend on their leader, and the leader of a rottie needs to know how to properly correct, which is with their voice.
i guarantee this will solve your problem.
so go show your rottie who is boss with that deep tone! but don’t forget to use your nice tone as well!
good luck!
