Is this unusual dog behavior?
Question by Ann H: Is this unusual dog behavior?
I have a 5 month old female Boston Terrier who is pretty rambunctious, but very sweet. We are currently going to training classes with her now and she has responded well and enjoys them. We don’t allow her to sleep with us, but she is allowed on the couch with us. For some reason she likes to climb up and sit on my shoulders, she would sit there and sleep there if I let her, just like a parrot! It seems like odd behavior to me, I’ve never had a small dog do that before. Does anyone else have a small dog that likes this?

My male Yorkie does it. He is just 4 pounds so it isn’t a real problem unless I am driving! I raise birds so I thought that he had started doing it because of the birds, but maybe it’s just something some dogs do.
Give your answer to this question below!

i would say thats normal, she just loves you =D
My jack russel does it
Yes my min pins when they were younger did exactly that
My little Pom before she passed would do that. She would climb up in the recliner with me and lay across my shoulders. I think it is very sweet.
Its completely normal don’t worry!!
My chihuahua does it all the time too! He likes to sit on my shoulders and sleep and such, its so cute! Your dog just loves you so its a good/positive behavior coming from your dog!! Way to go!
Hope this helps and good luck!!
Sounds like she just wants a higher point of view.As long as it does not bother you let her do it.Give her a big hug from me she sounds adorable.
My shih-tzu did that when he was younger. As he got bigger he just stopped doing it. Probably because he kept falling off. lol. No, he never got hurt. He still enjoys my lap and tummy though. Here are some pix of my pooch.

She is displaying that she is the Alpha dog. In the pack no dog’s head is allowed to be higher than the alpha’s. By you allowing her head to be higher than yours you are telling her that she is “TOP DOG”.
yea thats normal. my brother has a male boston terrier, and its the most annoying dog ive ever seen. so high energy. and both of my dogs are always on the couch and stuff..i hate dogs.
