What kind of show
Conformation or Obedience the behavior expected in the ring is different for what you are doing.
When the dog is about to apply ANY tension to the leash at all ….
Immediately stop.
Be a tree.
When the dog turns to see what happened to you, praise for his attention ….
and encourage the dog back into heel position next to you – if necessary, take a few steps backward.
As long as the dog is in the magic spot next to your leg, continue praising, give food rewards, make it the best possible place in the world to be. If he loses concentration and is about to put any tension on the leash at all, stop without warning and repeat the above sequence.
Ok… you signed your untrained dog up for a show…
You need to get enrolled in a training class or get a training book.

The two easiest and quickest ways i have found are:
- Walk normally and the second you feel the dog pulling on the leash say ‘ah ah’ and turn around sharply and start walking the other way. You will probably get some very strange looks from people but its useful if you have a big, strong dog as you turn the second you feel a pull. The dog doesn’t have a chance to sweep you off your feet.
- Or you can try walking normally and the second you feel the dog pulling stop dead in your tracks. Totally still. And don’t move until the lead is completely loose. You might find this difficult with a big, strong dog.

Choking collar or halter. Keep him close to you. If he starts pulling stop walking until he let’s some slack on the leash. Carry tiny treats (not huge treats, you don’t want him to get obese), and carry a clicker, when he stops pulling and let’s some slack up, click the clicker and give him a treat. Say GOOD boy! GOOD! Eventually you can eliminate the treats and just use the clicker (it’s like Pavlov and the dog, same rules apply). If you are walking and he pulls don’t just keep walking and definitely don’t pull him or yell. Dogs will not respond to that.
There are two sites I recommend to check out.
The first has a product just for the Husky:

Look under “C to L”
Second, see: http://www.dogtraining.ebookstogether.com/
Hope this helps.
