How long does a puppy take to get used to a new home?
Question by megaman118: How long does a puppy take to get used to a new home?
a day ago, i bought a puppy but it seems awfully shy. At first it didn’t play with me at all but now it seems to whenever i start first. Am i supposed to wait until he wants to play with me? Also, it sleeps a lot and i mean a LOT and i understand puppies do this but isn’t sleeping 3/4 of the day a little excessive? I want to know if i have to refund this dog because of its shyness or if it is just still getting used to the place. Also, i have wood flooring and it slips when it tries to walk. It has gotten better but it still refuses to move a lot. Is it bad for the development to rear it on wooden floors?

About 3-7 days to get used to. My dog when i first got it missed her mom so much she would cry. I felt bad. But soon she got used to me and her new home. Play with her get her used to you.
Good luck

dont worry about it i had a puppy and it got used to the house in a matter or a few days. we have wooden floors as well. About the sleeping, no need to worry puppies do do this like you said. So just give it time.
about 1 or 2 weeks that how my dog was
it need times to know the people that live there
It took me dog a few days to adjust, maybe 3-7 days.
Hang around her most of the time and pay ‘lots of attention to her so she gets used to you(:
Good luck with your new pup!
like two weeks:D
Puppies start to learn as soon as they are born. They are especially receptive to retain what they learn during their first 13 to 16 weeks of life. It is especially important that puppies have experiences with other dogs, as well as with children and adults, from birth to 16 weeks, the optimal time for socializing.

It took ours about a day. she fits in great. but it really does depend on the personality of the dog. Leea (my pup) is very laid back and takes everything in her stride. Where as my mum’s dog took a week to settle in.
