how do I teach my puppy tricks?
Question by flagatorgirl08: how do I teach my puppy tricks?
Like sit, stand, shake, roll over. He’s really smart I think he could learn really fast but I don’t know how to start or even what to do to teach him.
How often should I practice the tricks with him?

SIT=GENTLY push his bottom down, and say sit. if he stays sitting say good boy and once in a while maybe give hime a treat.
ROLL OVER=Roll him over and say roll over and reward him.
LAY DOWN=When he lkays down say lay down say lay down. If that doesnt work, when he masters sit, have him go further. Say lay down and reward.
SHAKE= When he masters sit, take his paw, shake it, and say, shake.

For sitting, hold a treat just above his nose, he’ll look up and sit down.
I love teaching mine new tricks, he can high five now =D
Have fun with your pup. x
For SIT, have him stand in front of you and take a treat over his nose so he can smell it. Once you have his attention push the treat backwards over his head towards his butt. As you do this say the command sit. When your puppy sits, praise and treat.
STAND, have your puppy in a sit position in front of you and take a treat to his nose. Slowly pull the treat back towards you to lure him. He should stand up and as he does say the command stand. If your puppy starts to take an unnecessary step towards you or the treat just push the treat back into his nose so he knows to stand where he is. Praise and treat.
SHAKE, have your puppy sit in front of you. Kneel down and take his paw. Hold it in your hand and say shake. Praise and treat. Or you can try and tickle the back of your puppy’s paws so he will lift up his paw. As he does take a hold of it and say shake. Praise and treat. As he gets better, you can teach him right shake and left shake.
ROLL OVER, lay your puppy down then push him over so he rolls over. As you does this say rollover. Praise and treat. Or you can lay him down and lure him to rollover with a treat. Say the command as he does it. Praise and treat.
Practice each trick daily for a few minutes each. Always end on a positive note so he will want to learn more later. If he is getting frustrated, stop and continue later.
