I BOUGHT A LITTER BUT HE SEEMS TO BE AFRAID TO GO INSIDE. I BOUGHT PAPERS AND HE RIPS THEM. WHAT DO I DO? I’M TRYING TO GET THIS DONE BEFORE IT GETS TO COLD IN CHICAGO.

keep the newspapers down and scold him when he tries to rip them. if you catch him about to go, race him outside right away, onto the grass, and then praise him a lot when he goes on the grass. keep taking him out at even intervals in the day and wait until he goes potty in the grass, and then praise him a lot when he goes potty outside.

try buying a kennel! one that is very small so it will not use the bathroom in it. the dog willnot use the bathroom in a small place! leave it in there and right when you take the dog out take im outside! this will get the dog use to going out side.
Most dogs its just forming a habit with them, but definitely dont buy puppy pads, it teaches them that its okay to pee in the house!
Dogs have to go out , it is in their nature to smell other dogs and write them letters and you have to go with him very often out and teach him as new mom to write letters actually he is got to be loved every time that he has done that what you want and ignored when he hasn’t been doing that.
and since it is in their nature to go out he will but you have to walk with him very slowly , and let him smell all the other dogs, then he will understand.
at petsmart and petco they have puppy pads, put them in front of the door, and put the puppy on it when he looks like he is going to go. Reward him when he goes, through the positive reinforcement you give him, he should start going to the door when he needs to go.
I use puppy pads. When you see him start to pee take him to the pad. If he pees in the floor take the pad & soak up his pee. Then take him to the pad & put his nose down to the pad where you soaked up his pee & tell him good boy. Then when you see him start to pee take him to the pad. Once he smells his own pee on the pad he should start going to the pad. First thing in the mornings take him to his pee pad & off & on thru out the day. Good Luck.
