can feeding a puppy from a bottle keep it from wanting to feed on momma?
Question by : can feeding a puppy from a bottle keep it from wanting to feed on momma?
I have 10 puppies and the mom only feeds them once a day otherwise we have to sit with her. We don’t have time to feed them two times a day, so we want to feed them with a bottle once and a while for when she doesn’t feed them like she needs to. So, if we feed the puppies with a bottle, will they stop wanting her to feed them?

Many breeders supplement feed small puppies as well as let them feed off momma. But you will have to Monitor them. There is no easy solution to this. You bred the female and she needs your help and it is your responsibility to make sure the litter gets all it needs. Should have thought of that before she was bred.

Well how old are the pups to begin with? Under 3 weeks of age? They are going to need more than “once in a while’ feedings if she is only feeding them herself once a day if you plan to have health and ALIVE pups.
You bred your dog and its your responsibility to step up to the plate if she refuses to be a good mother. you should also be trimming their nails. if they are 3 weeks or older you can start introducing them to softened kibble.
you don’t HAVE TIME?? And yet you allowed her to have a litter? A good breeder knows they have to take time off in case something like this happens. If you don’t HAVE TIME to care for the litter properly, turn mom and pups over to your local shelter. They will find someone to properly care for them. You should never allow another dog of yours to have puppies.
