Any tips for helping our new dog settle in? (He’s a beagle)?

Question by Lauz: Any tips for helping our new dog settle in? (He’s a beagle)?
We’re picking up a beagle dog on Monday and I would like any tips on how to help him settle in well.

We’ve done loads of research on the breed and met the dog – he’s great! He’s still young at only 13 months old and needs a bit more training but we’re prepared and experienced with that. We have had dogs before but not one that’s come from another home that’s not a puppy.

It’s not his fault that he’s being rehomed – his owners live in a flat and he needs more room. We have a large enclosed garden for him and lots of open spaces to walk him in. I’m just worried he will feel a little bewildered and want to help him settle in well. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Sure, call the owners and maybe see if hes got a blanket or a toy that is his favorite. if he has that in a new surrounding he might adjust better. Dont be to clingy with him at first. just let him sniff out the house and yard. he will come to you once hes ready
